Laura is 21!

Laura is 21. I met Laura 6 years ago. I can’t believe she is now able to drink and about to graduate from Texas A&M University. I am so proud of the woman that she has become. Laura is Keith’s middle sister and my sister-in-law!

A couple of months ago, Laura and her friend Kira asked me to make their cake for their 21st Birthdays! Of course, I said yes. They wanted a purple, black and white cake. Any flavor but carrot! :)

I made a 3 tier cake in the colors they requested. The bottom tier is Pina Colada Cake, the middle tier is Guinness Chocolate Cake and the top tier is Margarita Cake.

Here is the cake:

It is 2010! WOW!!!

I can’t believe it is finally 2010. So far, I have been pretty busy this year.

One of my friends, Donna, at the NB Elks Lodge is about to be a grandma for the first time. Donna asked if I would make the baby shower cake for her daughter Reagan. The baby bedding is brown and white polka dot. I decided to add some blue to go along with that since it is a little boy. The cake is confetti flavored (butter with sprinkles) with buttercream icing. The decorations are fondant.

In a few months, I have a wedding cake to do. The groom wanted to taste some of my cakes so I made cupcakes. I ended up making extra and dropped a bunch of them off with my friends at Keller Williams (Joe William’s office). The groom wanted to try Mint Chocolate with Ganache and Dark Chocolate with Peanut Butter Filling. For those I made some with cream cheese icing and some with buttercream. For the bride, I made some butter cupcakes with mixed berry filling and buttercream.

A friend of mine that I met on the Nest asked me to make a 40th Wedding Anniversary Cake for her in-laws. She found a picture of a cake she liked and emailed it to me. The cake is red velvet with buttercream icing. Ash lives in College Station but they celebrated with the in-laws in the New Braunfels area so I was able to meet up with them and hug Ash’s neck! Thanks for the order Ashley!!!

December Birthdays….

It seems I know a lot of people with birthdays in December. My sister, mom and husband all celebrate their birthdays in December!!

Sheri and Susan referred a co-worker of theirs to me! :) I knew this cake would be challenging but I am so happy with the way it came out! I was sent a picture of a cake they liked but they wanted a few things different. The original cake was done in pinks and had zebra stripes. Debbie asked that I use cobalt blue, turquoise, black and white. Instead of the zebra, polka dots and stars.

She also wanted a three tier cake. This cake was HEAVY! Each tier had 3 cake layers so it was a big one! The bottom layer was chocolate with fudge filling, middle layer was chocolate with cheesecake filling and the top layer was chocolate chip with buttercream filling.

Toby contacted me about making Mark’s Birthday Cake. She has the idea of doing a present for him! :) She wanted a pretty small cake but with Christmas colors.

Happy Birthday Lyla…..

When I married Keith, I married into a wonderful family!! Keith has a bunch of cousins and they are all so wonderful. Keith’s cousin Kyle and his wife Lori live about 15 minutes away from us. They have the MOST adorable 2 year old! Lyla is not only beautiful, she has a hilarious personality! Smart kiddo!!!

For Lyla’s birthday, Lori went with the Minnie Mouse theme. She asked me to make sugar cookies for the favor bags, cupcakes for the party and a small smash cake for Lyla to dig in! The party colors were red and yellow! Here is what I came up with:

My friend Joyce asked for more cupcakes. She is one of my best customers! :) Love her and love getting to go to her house and hang out with her adorable twin boys.

I made Lemon Cupcakes with Lemon Buttercream, Strawberry Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream and Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing.

I made some chocolate covered pretzels and cookies to go in Christmas boxes…..

Baby Boy and Cupcakes…..

I was asked by a friend of a friend to make 3 baby shower cakes. I was told that the baby was a boy and to just use my imagination. They really liked the last shower cake I made and wanted something similar. I decided to do 3 different cakes that were similar but not exactly the same. Each cake was a different flavor. One cake was pumkin with cream cheese filling, one cake was triple chocolate with buttercream filling and one cake was butter cake with mixed berry filling. I was told the client was very happy with the cakes.

Last week, Toby (a friend of mine from the lodge) asked if I would be willing to donate cupcakes that she could sell to raise money for families in need that we are helping out. Of course, I said yes!! :) I made 2 dozen Red Velvet Cupcakes. She sold out! YAY!!

Baby and Birthday…..

Like I have said before, I am so blessed to be a part of a great organization like the Elks Lodge here in New Braunfels. Not only do I enjoy that we give so much back….I have met so many good friends!

Keith and I met Toby and Mark a few years ago at the lodge. Our friendship has grown over the years and we consider ourselves blessed to have them in our lives.

Toby was hosting a baby shower for a co-worker and asked me to make the cake. She was so easy to work with and trusted me to do what I thought would look good. After checking out the couples registry, I went with their colors (sage and brown) and theme (polka dots). The invitation had the cutest little footprints so I included that also. The top layer of the cake was pumpkin with cream cheese icing and bottom layer was triple chocolate with buttercream.

I was also lucky enough to meet Donna and Debbie when joining the lodge. Debbie has ordered many birthday cakes from me and I was privileged to say yes when Donna asked me to make Debbie’s 51st birthday cake. Donna wanted the cake to be a german chocolate cake with the following writing: Happy 50 plus 1 Debbie.

Happy Birthday Alexis Taylor!!

My oldest niece just turned 10! I can’t believe she is in double digits. The day she was born was one of the happiest days of my life!

Lexi decided to have a Halloween Birthday Party this year. I let her decide what the cake would look like. She wanted an orange buttercream cake (top layer was chocolate with fudge filling and bottom layer was butter cake with buttercream filling) with purple and green polka dots along with spiders. She actually helped me color the fondant and decided upon the shades of purple and green.

I also made cupcakes for the kiddos to decorate as well as some pumpkin cupcakes with purple and green cream cheese icing.

Here are some pictures of Lexi, her cake and the party!

Showers……

My friends Deb and De asked me to make a cake for a wedding shower last week. I was told the bride likes white cake with buttercream icing. The wedding was going to be located at Landa Park here in New Braunfels. The couple loves nature and leaves. Deb mailed me a copy of the invite. Here is the cake I came up with:
